DaddyRecorder is a screen recording extension for Chrome. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Summary
We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. All recordings and processing happen locally on your device. Your videos never leave your computer unless you choose to share them yourself.
Data We Collect
DaddyRecorder collects the following data locally on your device only:
- Screen content: The video of your screen, window, or tab that you choose to record.
- Cursor position and clicks: Mouse coordinates and click events during recording, used to enable the auto-zoom feature.
- Webcam video: If you enable the camera, your webcam feed is recorded locally.
- Microphone audio: If you enable the microphone, your voice is recorded locally.
- User preferences: Settings like video quality, format, and recording options are stored in Chrome's local storage.
None of this data is transmitted to any server. Everything stays on your computer.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Personal information (name, email, address)
- Account credentials or passwords
- Browsing history or web activity
- Location data
- Analytics or usage statistics
- Any data from pages you don't record
How Your Data Is Used
The data collected during recording is used solely to:
- Create the screen recording video
- Enable auto-zoom effects based on your cursor movement
- Overlay your webcam feed on the recording (if enabled)
- Include your voice in the recording (if enabled)
- Remember your preferences for future recordings
Data Storage
- Recordings: Stored temporarily in your browser's memory during editing. When you export, the video is saved to your Downloads folder. We do not retain copies.
- Settings: Stored in Chrome's local storage on your device. You can clear this anytime through Chrome settings.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties. Period.
Your recordings are yours. They only leave your device if you manually share them (email, upload, etc.).
Third-Party Services
DaddyRecorder does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not use cookies for tracking purposes.
Permissions Explained
Here's why DaddyRecorder requests certain Chrome permissions:
- activeTab: To capture the screen content of the tab you're recording.
- tabs: To identify the recorded tab and open the editor after recording.
- storage: To save your preferences locally.
- downloads: To save the exported video to your computer.
- scripting: To inject the cursor tracking script for auto-zoom.
- host_permissions: To enable cursor tracking on any page you choose to record.
Children's Privacy
DaddyRecorder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
